Hi, I'm Mary Bowmer, Hyp. Dip., HPD, GQHP, MIBWRT, CNHC Reg.
I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist, BWRT Practitioner, NLP Practitioner & Life Coach.
As a registered member of the CNHC (Complimentary Natural Healthcare Council) you can be assured of my Professional Standards.
I became a Hypnotherapist because I wanted to follow my passion in positive psychology, understand how the mind works, and why we do the things we do. I discovered hypnotherapy to be a powerful, transformative therapy that works on the deepest level of mind with any issue that has a psychological component.
I specialise in helping adults and young people to break free of the past, overcome psychological barriers and empower themselves to be who they want to be.
I typically work with issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, confidence building, fears, phobias, depression, insomnia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), smoking cessation, weight loss, life purpose and personal growth, plus other issues that stop people from enjoying life to the full, like worries, negative thinking, compulsive thoughts and dwelling on the past.
Physical problems are often rooted in the subconscious mind and because hypnotherapy works at a subconscious level, the symptoms of the problem can be eased or greatly reduced, for example pain, trembling, blushing, stuttering or teeth grinding. Habits like nail biting and hair pulling can also be reversed.
Some issues, like pain, insomnia and IBS will need to be investigated by a GP before enjoying a programme of hypnotherapy, to rule out any other serious illness.
Once you discover the power of Hypnotherapy, you will be able to tackle all those things that have stopped you from enjoying and living life to the full. You will learn how to manage your own mind and achieve your goals with a little help from your friendly hypnotherapist!
You can ask me anything!
Skills Training
I also teach a range of life enhancing skills including self-hypnosis, which can be practiced on a daily basis to reinforce your goals, wishes and desires. Once you learn self-hypnosis you will have a better understanding of how your mind works and how you can influence it to be on your side, helping you in the background.
My work is grounded in science, integrating mind/body/spirit for balance and harmony in life. I love my work and I am passionate about sharing the amazing benefits that hypnotherapy can bring.
My Mission
It is my mission use my skills and learning to help others to become better, to teach the skills of mind management, to work with peope who are ready to change, who want to release the past and move forward in life with confidence.
What I did before becoming a Hypnotherapist
Before I trained in clinical hypnotherapy, I was a PA/Office Manager in the corporate world, with over 25 years of experience working with people of all levels, problem solving, supporting staff with personal problems and working with Human Resources on a wide range of issues. My life purpose is in helping other people to become better versions of themselves and stand in their own power. My life experience has taught me to keep an open mind, keep learning and remain curious. I believe strongly that a person will only change when they are ready to change, and the reason to change is greater than the reason to stay the same.
I am happily married with 4 grown up children and I love the great outdoors, learning more about the brain/mind/body/spirit, cooking and cats.

I believe that what happens inside our minds is crucial to our happiness, success and well-being. I also believe that people can sabotage their own efforts with limiting beliefs and self doubt. In this life, the one thing we can be certain of is that change is inevitable. Allowing ourselves to become comfortable with that idea can make a big difference in keeping our heads and our emotions in balance when big changes happen.
Science tells us that it is entirely possible to change the habits of a lifetime and overcome psychological blocks to happiness. We can all write and rewrite our goals, delve into our subconscious minds, work through emotional blocks, and summon up some inner force, but if we don’t eventually take action, we are wasting our time. Imagination is more powerful than willpower and this is proved over and over again. Thoughts create feelings, feelings lead to choices, choices lead to action and action gets results.

"He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life"

I believe it's important to choose the right therapist who will listen to you, challenge you, show empathy, and help you to become the person you want to be.
"I was prepared to make a round journey every week of 180 miles to see Mary. Her enthusiasm, positivity, experience and helpful tools were worth it. She walked the extra mile with me every time. What I really liked too was that she was open and flexible to whatever I threw at her to work with."
